Yahoo’s default fantasy football league uses Head-to-Head Points scoring with half-PPR: half a point for every reception. Passing touchdowns are worth 4 points and an interception costs 1 point. This guide lists the full Yahoo default scoring chart for offense, kickers and defenses, with worked examples you can check yourself.
The values below come from Yahoo’s own default league settings help page. Those are the settings used when you join a public league or create a private one. Commissioners of private leagues can change them, so always confirm your own league’s settings.
Yahoo default offensive scoring
- Each reception: 0.5 points
- Every 25 passing yards: 1 point
- Each passing touchdown: 4 points
- Each interception thrown: −1 point
- Every 10 rushing yards: 1 point
- Each rushing touchdown: 6 points
- Every 10 receiving yards: 1 point
- Each receiving touchdown: 6 points
- Each return touchdown: 6 points
- Each offensive fumble recovery touchdown: 6 points
- Each 2-point conversion: 2 points
- Each fumble lost: −2 points
Yahoo’s default league also counts fractional yardage points (for example, 63 passing yards is 2.52 points) and allows negative points.
Yahoo default kicker scoring
- Field goal from 0-19 yards: 3 points
- Field goal from 20-29 yards: 3 points
- Field goal from 30-39 yards: 3 points
- Field goal from 40-49 yards: 4 points
- Field goal from 50+ yards: 5 points
- Each extra point: 1 point
Example: a kicker makes field goals of 32, 47 and 53 yards and two extra points. That is 3 + 4 + 5 + 2 = 14 points.
Yahoo default defense and special teams scoring
- Each sack: 1 point
- Each interception: 2 points
- Each fumble recovery: 2 points
- Each touchdown: 6 points
- Each safety: 2 points
- Each blocked kick: 2 points
- Kickoff and punt return touchdowns: 6 points
Defenses also score by how many points they allow:
- Shutout (0 points allowed): 10 points
- 1-6 points allowed: 7 points
- 7-13 points allowed: 4 points
- 14-20 points allowed: 1 point
- 21-27 points allowed: 0 points
- 28-34 points allowed: −1 point
- 35 or more points allowed: −4 points
Example: a defense records 2 sacks, 1 interception and 1 fumble recovery, and allows 10 points. That is 2 + 2 + 2 + 4 = 10 points.
Worked examples with Yahoo defaults
Quarterback: 275 passing yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. That is 275 ÷ 25 = 11, plus 2 × 4 = 8, minus 1 = 18 points. In a standard league with −2 per interception, the same game is worth 17.
Wide receiver: 8 catches, 110 yards and 1 touchdown. Yards are worth 11, the touchdown 6, and the catches 8 × 0.5 = 4, for 21 points. With full PPR the same game would be 25, and with no points per reception it would be 17.

- Starting lineup: 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 K and 1 DEF/ST
- Bench: 6 players, plus 2 injured reserve spots
- Playoffs: Weeks 16 and 17, with 4 teams
Commissioners can customize scoring
Private league commissioners can change these values. Yahoo has also announced new scoring options that let commissioners set point values by position and stat category, including things like 60+ yard field goals and defensive return yards. Common changes include 6 points per passing touchdown, full PPR (1 point per reception) or standard scoring (0 points per reception). If your league does any of these, your totals will differ from the defaults above.
